Essential Peacemaking Women and Men, Background information

Essential Peacemaking Women and Men’ (EP), is a program of Earthstewards Network. This network, founded in 1980,  is an active, vibrant tapestry of passionate people who are each working in their own way, in their own communities, to create a more positive, caring world.

Essential Peacemaking Women and Men begun in 1989 and was designed by Danaan Perry en Jerilyn Brusseau. This program is offered by approximately 400 accredited facilitators thoughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Beneath the surface of many world problems (and individual conflicts) lies a core of misunderstanding and often mistrust between women and men.

This programme intends to work on these problems at a grassroot level and formally compises three parts:

  • 1-day workshop with an introduction to collaborative communication, a conflict resolution model and dynamics in women/men relationships

  • 2-days workshop offering more opportunities to improve personal skills and (potentially) transform personal inhibitors

  • 3-days workshop for a deeper understanding and making preparations for potential accreditation as facilitator of the 1-day workshop

In practice we noticed that some participants of the 1-day workshop would have preferred more hands on practice (= part of 2-days workshop) and / or would rather participate in the 2-days workshop together with their partner, friends or collegues, but that the planning of the 1-day would not allow for this. In order to accommodate this we now offer a 2 ½ days workshop combining the programme of the 1- and 2-days workshops.
